Hope for a Family

The Raleigh Division Builds Hope for a Family

The Raleigh Division sponsored the production of one home in the Habitat for Humanity Builder Blitz. During the Builder Blitz, 20 homes were built in Raleigh, and as many as 500 around the country!

With the help of our subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, our division volunteers built a 1,100 square foot home in 5 days! Three of our senior construction managers, Kenny Wilson, Gary Clegg, and Lee Aversano lead the charge by coordinating the building schedule and managing the entire process.

Habitat for Humanity works to help those who are in need of a helping hand. The home was built for Yvonne Bowers and her three daughters. The commitment that the family made required by Habitat for Humanity is a total of 250 hours of sweat equity into their home or one in a neighboring community. They also have to assume a $75,000 mortgage and must live in the home for five years. Families are only eligible for this opportunity once.

Yvonne works as a team leader at a local Home Depot in order to support her family. The past three years have been especially tough for her family after a fire causing by the dryer left them homeless. She was extremely grateful for this new home and looks forward to starting a new life for her family.

We would like to thank everyone for their time and dedication to this great cause.

Throughout the 1980s, the Cooperative grew in size and effectiveness, earning the reputation it deserves today as the number one safety net for the hungry in Southwest Florida.
