Toll Brothers Donates Over 1,500 Home Appliances Valued at $500,000.00 to HomeAid and Other Charities
Toll Brothers recently donated over 1,500 like-new appliances to charities throughout the regions where our communities are located. Distribution has already begun and is being managed by HomeAid, a non-profit organization that provides housing for the homeless. In regions where HomeAid does not operate, distribution is being managed by Goodwill, The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and Covenant House.
Due to a change in partnership with our major appliance provider, we will be replacing all appliances in our model homes and design studios throughout the country. That leaves the appliances available for those who need them.
"It's simply a matter of doing the right thing," said Zvi Barzilay, our President and COO and a HomeAid board member. "The only option here is to find a place where these like-new appliances can be put to good use, and I can't think of a better organization to handle the dispersal – we are proud to be able to contribute," he added.
Founded in 1989 in Southern California by an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders, HomeAid builds and maintains dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. This renowned organization now has 20 active chapters in 15 states around the nation. According to their website, "The HomeAid Shelter Development Program consists of homebuilders, their trades, and their suppliers constructing, on behalf of service providers with proven track records, multi-unit shelters where the homeless can learn the job and life skills necessary to return them to the mainstream. HomeAid's shelters serve abused children, victims of domestic violence, homeless veterans, at-risk teens, people living with HIV/AIDS, the temporarily unemployed, and victims of natural disasters and other catastrophes."
Appliances to be donated include washers, dryers, microwave ovens, ranges, dishwashers, wall ovens, cooktops, and refrigerators. To learn more, visit HomeAid.org.
