Southeast Florida is one of the most vibrant regions in the Sunshine State. With an array of bustling metropolitan centers balanced with serene, natural beauty, and world-class beaches, the area offers a lifestyle that celebrates all Florida has to offer.

1. Natural Beauty

Florida’s southeast coast is home to some of the nation’s most sought-after beaches and preserves, which are frequented by residents and vacationers year-round due to the region’s mild climate.

Deerfield Beach

Deerfield Beach is known for its relaxed feel, world-famous fishing pier, and turquoise-blue waters. Take a hike over to the Hillsboro Inlet and Lighthouse for a family photo op before exploring Deerfield Beach’s quaint, coastal downtown area.

John D. MacArthur State Park

Both a tropical beach and a lush mangrove forest, John D. MacArthur State Park allows you to experience Florida’s natural beauty and native vegetation firsthand. Located in North Palm Beach, the park offers guided sea turtle walks and an island boardwalk to further enrich your experience.

2. Shopping and Dining

There’s a reason why people from around the country flock to Southeast Florida to shop, dine, and indulge. Dynamic downtown centers provide near-limitless options for shopping and multicultural cuisine. Palm Beach Gardens’ renowned PGA Commons, for instance, includes several popular galleries and restaurants, such as Scusi Trattoria, which features a menu of elevated, traditional Italian dishes. The popular Palm Beach Gardens Mall acts as the heart of the active downtown center.

Mizner Park and CityPlace—located in Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, respectively—are outdoor shopping destinations popular for their walkability and array of shops, boutiques, and dining options, from American classics to Italian, Greek, Mexican, and other incredible cuisine. Located just a few short miles from CityPlace, Palm Beach Island’s Worth Avenue is the region’s version of Rodeo Drive, with high-fashion boutiques lining the picturesque, palm tree-lined street.

3. Family Fun

Southeast Florida is an excellent place to raise a family. Top school districts coupled with countless educational and recreational activities ensure children can stay active and engaged year-round.

Loggerhead Marine Life Center

Located in Juno Beach, the Loggerhead Marine Life Center is one of Florida’s most popular destinations for sea turtle conservation and education. Children ages eight and up can join the center’s seasonal day or summer camps—which are also offered virtually—to gain firsthand knowledge about interacting with sea turtles.

Children’s Science Explorium

Is there a little explorer in your family? Boca Raton’s Children’s Science Explorium offers fascinating and engaging exhibits for children ages 5 to 12 that cover a variety of topics, from physics to environmental science. The museum is also a popular venue for birthday parties.

4. Arts and Culture

With a rich history, Southeast Florida is a cultural enclave offering numerous opportunities for unforgettable experiences. For example, did you know that the region has close ties to Japanese culture? You can learn about this and more by visiting the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, a local favorite for over 40 years. In addition to a museum with interactive exhibits and film screenings, the complex features acres of scenic outdoor walkways showcasing Japanese landscapes, architecture, and tranquil water views.

Located in Downtown West Palm Beach, the Kravis Center hosts national tours of Broadway shows, symphony orchestras, and limited-time concerts and engagements throughout the year. Just steps away, the Norton Museum of Art is free to the public every Friday and Saturday and showcases world-class modern and classic art.
