Employee Engagement Survey
Creating a work environment in which employees feel engaged, challenged, and committed to our company's future is an important priority. One way we do this is by listening and acting on employee feedback.
Each year we send out an anonymous employee engagement survey, which provides us with insights into our work environment and where we can improve. We're proud of our results, and year after year we find that employee engagement is high overall, and that employees have an incredible sense of pride and purpose for the work they do.
proud to work for Toll Brothers
Toll Brothers pride runs deep. One of the things employees love to do is take Toll Brothers to locations far and wide.
When President of Apartment Living Charles Elliott climbed to the top of Aconcagua mountain, he brought the Toll Brothers flag with him and proudly planted it at the top. When asked why he brought it, he said, "I am so proud to work for Toll Brothers and wanted to bring my passion to the far reaches of the world."
Richard Berrouet, one of our Customer Care Representatives from Texas, displayed his Toll pride while serving in Afghanistan as a Middle East Special Security Officer for the U.S. Army. "I look forward to getting back and working with the team after my mission."
Culture Steering Committee and Culture Ambassadors
Our Culture Steering Committee is made up of a group of leaders who serve the organization by providing direction on a variety of culture initiatives. This committee assists and advises management in cultivating and reinforcing a workplace culture that helps attract, motivate, and retain our employees. We also have a volunteer team of Culture Ambassadors who help us embed culture initiatives throughout our offices across the country.
Our company-wide Keystone Award program recognizes employees who go above and beyond. Three times a year, we celebrate winners from across the company. Each winner receives a monetary award, a personalized trophy, and recognition. The Keystone Awards are tied back to our values, and employees must demonstrate they have gone above and beyond in their jobs and are great examples of living our values.
Learning and Development
We're committed to helping employees have a rewarding and successful career with us. Professional development is an important priority at Toll Brothers, and we are always working to grow and enhance the available opportunities.
Toll Brothers offers a robust internship program that provides a valuable learning experience for students, mentoring opportunities for staff, and an important recruitment tool for the company. The program offers college students full-time, paid work during the summer and, for co-op students, during the school year. Our continuous efforts to grow and improve our internship program has yielded real results with participation doubling over a recent period.
Management Associate Program
Our Management Associate (MA) program aims to develop the most well-rounded operations employees in home building. This nine-month program is comprised of on-the-job experiences through rotations to key areas of operations and exposure to our functional groups. At program completion, MA's are ready and able to step into multiple operations roles, based on the division's need and the MA's area of interest.
National Production Training Program
The National Production Training Program is the result of extensive research and the development of industry best practices and was created to help produce highly skilled construction professionals. The program is divided into five curriculums that encompass technical skills, managerial skills, leadership, personal development, and field proficiencies. When taken in its entirety, it is a comprehensive training program for production employees, specifically Assistant Construction Managers. Within the program are individual courses that can be assigned as standalone refreshers to enhance the performance of our more experienced Construction Managers.
Leadership Behaviors are the core behaviors that all leaders at Toll Brothers should possess and exhibit. They help clarify what we stand for as a company and provide consistent guidelines for leaders. When leaders meet these expectations, they're not only more effective at their jobs, but they're better leaders. By embodying these behaviors, we take care of our employees, live up to our values, and reinforce our strong culture.
The five Leadership Behaviors are:
- Develop Talent
- Build Trust & Awareness
- Drive Results
- Focus on the Customer
- Improve & Innovate
We continue to reinforce Leadership Behaviors through employee communications as well as embedding them in our Talent Management Process.
